Module #1 Foundational Islamic Knowledge
Our introductory module provides foundational Islamic knowledge. It covers key aspects of faith, worship, and morality in Islam. The text explores the nature of religion, including the principles of faith such as belief in Allah, angels, holy books, prophets, the Hereafter, and predestination. It also details the various forms of worship, including prayer, fasting, almsgiving (zakat), pilgrimage (Hajj), and their spiritual significance. Module #2 Fiqh
Our second module covers various aspects of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), focusing on concepts like ijtihad, Sunnah, and legal principles derived from Islamic teachings. It explains ijtihad as the intellectual effort to derive legal rulings from the Qur'an and Sunnah, emphasizing the role of qualified scholars (mujtahids) in adapting Islamic law to contemporary issues. The document highlights the importance of reasoning and interpretation, supported by verses that encourage reflection. It discusses the types of Sunnah—affirmative, explanatory, and those that establish or limit legal rules—and the role of consensus (ijma) among scholars in forming legal judgments. The text also addresses the historical development of Islamic legal schools, the gradual prohibition of certain practices like alcohol, and the evolution of fiqh through analogical reasoning (qiyas). Our third module serves as a comprehensive guide on the study of Hadith for high school students. It explores the human and prophetic aspects of Prophet Muhammad (saw) as described in the Qur'an, emphasizing his role as a messenger and his mission of Tabligh (delivering the message) and Tabyin (explaining the message). The text also discusses the science of Hadith, including its terminology, history, and methodology. It explains key concepts like Sunnah, Sanad (chain of narrators), and the methods used to ensure the authenticity of Hadith. The document details the historical periods of Hadith compilation and classification, the different types of Hadith based on their sources and authenticity, and how to differentiate authentic narrations from fabricated ones. Additionally, it highlights the relationship between Hadith and other Islamic sciences like Fiqh (Islamic law) and Tafsir (Qur'anic interpretation), showcasing Hadith as a vital tool for understanding Islamic teachings. Module #4 Islamic History
Our fourth module covers the emergence and development of Islamic historiography, the life and mission of Prophet Muhammad (saw), and key periods like the Meccan period, the migration to Medina, and the establishment of the Medina city-state. It highlights the contributions of early Muslims to Islamic civilization, detailing events such as the First and Second Pledges of Aqaba, battles, and social developments. The text also explores the era of the Four Caliphs, including the significant achievements and challenges faced during their leadership, the Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties, and the spread of Islam beyond the Arabian Peninsula. Additionally, it examines how Islamic historiography evolved, utilizing both oral traditions and written sources, and the integration of Islamic teachings with the social sciences. This module emphasizes the role of Islamic history in understanding cultural, social, and religious transformations from the birth of Islam to the present.
Module #5 History of Religions
Our fifth module introduces students to the study of comparative religion. It covers the definition, subject, and method of the comparative history of religions, emphasizing an objective analysis of different belief systems without favouring one over the other. The text explores the importance of understanding other religions for a deeper appreciation of Islam, as well as historical studies of religion in Turkiye. It categorizes religions into those based on revelation (e.g., Islam, Judaism, Christianity) and others, comparing their core beliefs, worship practices, and ethics. The book also examines Indian and East Asian religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, alongside other ancient belief systems. The importance of learning about different religions is highlighted for fostering interfaith dialogue and understanding. The overall goal is to provide a balanced perspective that enhances students' knowledge of global religions, their historical development, and their social and cultural impacts.
Module #7 Rhetoric / Hitabet
Our sixth module, focuses on rhetoric, and effective communication within religious services. It covers principles of Islamic oratory, emphasizing the role of religious officials in guiding and educating the community through speeches. Key concepts include irshad, tabligh, and da’wah, which involve guiding, delivering religious messages, and inviting people to Islamic teachings. The text discusses the qualifications needed for religious officials, the importance of knowing oneself and understanding the audience, and the challenges they may face in communication. It explores methods of delivering effective speeches, such as khutbah (sermon) and wa’z (preaching), and highlights the importance of using clear, respectful, and persuasive language. The book also includes practical guidelines for preparing speeches, the use of body language, and the role of religious ceremonies. It aims to equip students with the skills needed to communicate Islamic teachings effectively and maintain positive engagement with their communities.
Module #8 Tafsir
Our seventh module, focuses on the science of Tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis). It covers the history and methodology of interpreting the Qur'an, starting from the revelation period to contemporary approaches. The text explains the process of revelation, compilation of the Qur'an, and its preservation. It outlines key concepts like Wahy (revelation), the roles of the Prophet and his companions in explaining and compiling the Qur'an, and the emergence of the science of Tafsir. This module also discusses different types of Tafsir, including Riwayah (narration-based) and Dirayah (reason-based) Tafsir, and emphasizes the importance of understanding the Qur'an through linguistic, historical, and contextual analysis. It highlights the relationship between Tafsir and other Islamic sciences such as Hadith, Fiqh, and Kalam. The module aims to provide students with a structured understanding of the principles and methodologies used in interpreting the Qur'an, offering both historical insights and practical guidelines for engaging with the Qur'an in a meaningful way.
Module #9 Kalam
Our ninth module, focuses on the study of Kalam. It explores the foundations of faith, including belief in Allah, prophethood, and the afterlife. The text discusses the role of reason and revelation in understanding and interpreting Islamic beliefs, emphasizing the compatibility between rational thought and religious teachings. It traces the development of Kalam, highlighting significant theological schools like Ash'ariyya, Maturidiyya, and Mutazila, and their approaches to reasoning and faith. The document addresses theological challenges such as the existence of God, human free will, and the problem of evil, offering philosophical arguments and Qur'anic perspectives. It also explores the nature of the universe, human responsibility, and the relationship between theology and other Islamic sciences like Fiqh and Hadith. A significant focus is on the application of reason to defend and clarify Islamic beliefs while maintaining fidelity to revelation, providing students with a structured understanding of theological principles and their historical context.
